As a member of the University of Miami workforce, you are bound by our committment to preserve the privacy and confidentiality of our patients’ health information. This committment means full compliance with all applicable state and federal laws securing the privacy of health information, most notably, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). For this reason, our office was created to assist you with all matters concerning health information privacy and security at the University.
If you come in contact with patient health information as part of your work, it is mandatory that you become familiar with the University’s policies and procedures for the handling of health information. For your convenience, we have made the following resources available to assist you:
