privacy and security policies (Florida)

Florida statutes require that all records owners "develop and implement policies, standards, and procedures to protect the confidentiality and security of the medical record." (FL Stat 456.07)

Further, it is required that "[e]mployees of records owners shall be trained in these policies, standards, and procedures."

Strictly speaking, the above does not apply to hospitals, which are regulated under separate statutes (chapter 395). It is reasonable to assume that a similar standard would be implied, however, for health information where-ever and however held.
